
Adam was born and raised in western Kansas. He married Christine in 2007 and their children are Austin, Kaitlyn, and Allison. His family is the third generation to own and operate his family’s ranch on the Kansas/Colorado border. He is a sixth generation Kansan.
He attended Weskan High School where he excelled in academics and a variety of extra-curricular activities from music to sports. After graduation, he went on to Kansas State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with emphasis on Animal Science, Agronomy, and Agricultural Technology Management.
Following graduation, he moved back to home to manage the ranch. He also worked for several local implement dealerships in several different roles in parts, service, sales, and GPS steering systems technology.
Adam and his family have been active in public service for generations. Adam has served and has been elected chairman/president of the Wallace County Commission, Wallace County Republican Party Central Committee, Kansas Legislative Policy Group, Kansas County Association Multiline Pool, and the Northwest Kansas Highway Officials Association. Adam has also served as president of the Sharon Springs Rotary Club, Weskan Community Improvement Association, and Weskan Schools Alumni Association Board. Adam’s family members have also served on school board, Kansas County Treasurers Association, NWKTC Area Advisory Board, Kansas County Appraisers Association, Farm Bureau Board, CO-OP Board, county commission, Sunflower Electric Board of Directors, and township board. Adam’s great-great grandfather Melville Linscott even served in the Kansas House of Representatives in the late 1800’s after his service in the Civil War.
Leadership and dedication to the community run deep for Adam and his family.
An adage that gets used often in the Smith family is “don’t point out a problem unless you’re willing to be part of a solution”!
